About BeatForge Play

What you can do

  • Beat Studio — build a beat on a four-instrument grid, set the tempo, and play the loop. Switch to the circular wheel view to see the same rhythm as a circle (it makes the pull of syncopation easy to see), and turn on counting to read the rhythm out loud with numbers or syllables (1 e & a · ta-ka-di-mi · ta / ti-ti).
  • Rhythm Coach — fill a measure to four beats with the right note value, and echo back short rhythms you hear or see. You get a hint after a first try, and mistakes are part of how it works.
  • 16 concept kits — quick question rounds on rhythm, melody, notation, instruments, theory, history, world music, and more, at your own pace.

It works with the sound off

Sound is a bonus, not a requirement. The beat grid, the moving playhead, the counting, and the rhythm wheel all show you the music, so you can learn rhythm on a muted device or if you’re deaf or hard of hearing. Turn the sound on any time you like — it’s off until you do.
