About HeatForge Play

How it works

HeatForge turns thermodynamics into things you do — predict, build, and test — not just facts to memorize.

  • Heat-Flow Lab — read a real scene (a spoon in soup, a pot on the stove, a campfire) and predict how the heat is travelling: by conduction through touching stuff, by convection in a moving fluid, or by radiation as invisible rays. Then say which way it flows — always from hotter to cooler — and watch the mechanism play out.
  • Insulation Engineer — you're the engineer. Pick materials and thickness to keep an ice cube frozen, or cocoa hot, as long as possible. Predict which build wins, then see the R-values — the number that tells you how well something blocks heat. A thick so-so insulator can beat a thin great one, and the numbers show why.
  • Concept kits — 16 short question rounds, from temperature and thermal energy up through the three transfer modes, phase change and latent heat, the laws of thermodynamics, insulation engineering, and heat in Earth's climate.

Meet the cast

Touch, Drift, and Glow each stand for one way heat travels — conduction, convection, and radiation — while Shift is phase change and Hush is insulation reaching balance. You can read their stories and hear them on the cast page.

Our privacy promise

HeatForge Play is free, works offline, and collects nothing. No accounts, no ads, no tracking, and no data ever leaves your device — your level and streak are saved only in this browser.

Mistakes are part of it

You never lose anything for a wrong answer. A wrong guess just points you to the right idea next time — that's how science works too.
