Privacy & how it works

WeatherForge on the web is built the same way as our iOS apps: private by design.

Everything stays on this device

Your progress — best scores and XP — is stored only in this browser (on-device storage). It is never sent anywhere. Clear your browser data and it's gone; nobody else can see it.

No accounts, no ads, no tracking

There is no sign-up and no login. There are no ads and no in-app purchases. There are no third-party trackers embedded in the app. No live weather data is fetched — every forecast scenario is built in, so nothing about you or your location leaves the device.

How it works

In the Forecast Lab, read a synoptic panel — pressure and its trend, humidity, an approaching front, and the wind — then forecast tomorrow's high temperature, precipitation, and wind direction. Or try Confidence Forecasting: give a percent-chance of rain and see how well-calibrated your confidence is, scored the way real meteorologists check their forecasts. In the Storm Builder, read a set of conditions and name the storm that forms, or set moisture, instability, wind, and temperature to spawn a hurricane, tornado, thunderstorm, or blizzard. At the Instrument Bench, learn what every weather instrument measures. Or run a Concepts kit: a short round of questions. A hint appears only after a first try, so you think it through first — and mistakes are treated as part of learning.

A note on severe weather

Storms are treated as fascinating science to understand and prepare for — never as something to be frightened of. WeatherForge is about observing, measuring, and forecasting so you know what the sky is doing.

Built for ages 9–14

The 400 Concepts questions come straight from the WeatherForge iOS app and are aligned to Next Generation Science Standards for weather and climate (grades 4–8). Everything works with the sound off and can be played entirely by keyboard.
